Jude & George

My name is Maddison Lassig and my journey into the NICU world began in late November of 2023, when my beautiful twin boys were born at 22+6 weeks gestation. Our twins -miracles to us, little did we know how miraculous they were even in the world of NICU. Jude and George, were both born weighing 510g and requiring continuous ventilator support due to their extreme premature lungs.

The twins faced many medical complications, and as new and overwhelmed parents, we were not prepared for how our world would look. The medical team in the NICU, were valuable in the journey, keeping us informed and encouraged, describing the NICU journey as a “rollercoaster” on the daily. As we began to feel more adjusted to the NICU and our twins were growing, we unexpectedly lost our beautiful boy Jude when he was just five weeks old. We were supported by the NICU staff inspending our last special moments with our baby boy.

We continued our journey through NICU and George continued to face his own challenges, however he now had the strength of two. George went home after a total of 139 days in hospital.

I remain grateful to have had the medical professionals, volunteers, family/friends who helped guide me through what still remains, the most heart-breaking time in my life and yet the most special – because Jude & George are our miracles.
